At a Glance

Welcome to the Arctic, one of the last great ecosystems on planet Earth—vast, magnificent, and yours for 16 unforgettable days. You’ll learn about this awe-inspiring land from the people who know it best—the scientists and the Inuit people who call it their home. Your Arctic basecamp will be a state-of-the art expedition ship manned with leading scientists in ecology, conservation, exploration, marine biology, and more. As part of the crew, you’ll join in the shipboard discussions, debates, workshops, and scientific discovery. Sounds intense? It will be, but you’ll also have a blast viewing polar bears, walruses, and beluga whales in their natural environments. You’ll walk the spectacular Grinnel Glacier and hike pristine beaches and inland meadows. You’ll brave the frigid Arctic waters in fast Zodiac boats to land on remote, craggy islands, to search for evidence of ancient Thule settlements and paleo-Eskimo peoples, and shake hands with the Inuits in their local villages. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg!
