At a Glance

Welcome to Ecuador and the Galápagos, home to the ancient Incas, stomping grounds to Charles Darwin, and the world’s greatest living scientific laboratory. Put on your explorer’s hat, you’ve got a trip as diverse as the rainforest that surrounds you. In the Andean Highlands, you’ll trek the Inca trail (with a little help from the pack horses) learning the flora and fauna by day and sleeping beside Incan ruins by night. You’ll scale the Cotopaxi volcano—then have lunch. Attached to cable zip lines, you’ll soar alongside birds and butterflies in the Cloud Forest. And you’ll take in South America at a café in the World Heritage city of Quito. All this, and you haven’t even made it to the Galápagos yet! Once in the enchanted islands, you’ll snorkel with the sea lions, hang with the howler monkeys, explore the lava tunnels, mountain bike the Santa Cruz highlands, hike a forest of sunflowers, explore a double crested volcano, learn ecology at the Charles Darwin Center, and help out at the breeding center for giant tortoises. Ecology, mythology, marine biology—you’ll do it all in this once in a lifetime trip.
